It is made of Styrene acrylonitrile SAN construction to be more specific, not just weak plastic. That type of plastic is in the same general grade area as Plexiglas that is used in aircraft windows, so I expect more use out of it than if it were glass
The Guzzini butter dish not only looks very attractive, but it accommodates two sticks of butter, or the half pound size that fit perfectly into the dish. It is a three-piece butter dish that has not only a top and bottom, but has a white bottom insert that can be removed for easy cleaning.
That white cleanable insert also acts as an extra seal for the clear top. I am not disappointed in this designer butter dish at all for $22+.
